Workload Assignment for ETAs

Please be advised that ETA faculty members will receive their workload assignment letter by May 1st. Vice-Provost Nadia Hardy informed CUFA that her office and IITS have been working on new “language in the workload letters prepared in FRIS for ETA members to reflect the changes to Article 16.09 of the 2018-2021 CUFA Collective Agreement.” As a consequence, the deadline of April 23rd could not be met.

Quoting from the Vice-Provost’s message to CUFA, here are the changes to expect:

“(…) the letter “mimics” the one we produce for probationary and tenured members, where their teaching load is adjusted to 12, 15 or 18 credits depending on their research and service dossiers – and additional remissions may be deducted as appropriate. This means that for those ETA members who are classified as performing “normal service”, the workload letter generated by FRIS will state that their base teaching load is 18 credits. Additional remission credits will be deducted as appropriate and clearly indicated in the letter. For those ETA members who are classified as performing “minimal service”, the workload letter generated by FRIS will state that their base teaching load is 21 credits. Additional remission credits may be deducted as appropriate and clearly indicated in the letter.”
