New Salary Grids

The salary grid for full-time faculty members and librarians shall be adjusted each June 1 in accordance with the provisions of Article 40. Members below the ceiling of their rank move up a step on the grid each year, effective June 1, provided that either performance has been at least satisfactory in the biennial performance review or they are not subject to review as per Article 14.16 or Article 15.11 g). (…) Members whose salary increases are governed by the Old Model may have up to two different components to their nominal salary. These include a base salary and an equity supplement.

As per Article 39.02 of the Collective Agreement, your placement on the grid is determined by your rank (Probationary Lecturer, Probationary Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, ETA Lecturer, ETA Senior Lecturer, LTA lecturer, LTA Assistant Professor; and for librarians: LTA Librarian, Assistant Librarian, Associate Librarian, Senior Librarian).

Your biweekly pay notices should show your grid salary divided by the number of two-week periods in one year which is set to 26.

Performance reviews allow you to move up on the grid each year. However, under the new extended agreement 2026-2028, the fall 2026 performance evaluations are cancelled for members whose performance was previously assessed as satisfactory. Those members automatically will receive CDI/step increases, as applicable. Full performance evaluations will resume in Fall 2028. In all cases, members receive two advancements on the grid (CDI) during 2026–2028, however, payment these step increases will be deferred, with their timing tied to Operating Revenue thresholds (see details in FAQ).
Whenever you reach the top of the grid, you will cease to receive step increases but will continue to get the percentage increase (2.6% and 2.4% in the next two years) that is negotiated at that time.
